D'Iberville men accused in thefts of $2,000 worth of tools


Two Jackson County men were arrested in the theft of more than $2,000 worth of power tools Tuesday from vehicles at Big Ridge Storage in St. Martin, officials said.

Lt. Randy Muffley said Jeffrey Neal Gray, 44, and Nathan Thomas Cook, 25, were arrested on two counts commercial burglary after their residence in the 3000 block of Highland Drive was searched by Jackson County investigators, D'Iberville police and the Coast Narcotics Enforcement Team.

"Investigators found them in the house with tools connected with the burglaries," Muffley said. "There was also evidence of drug use in the house."

Muffley said after the arrest, it was discovered Gray was also wanted by the state Department of Corrections for a probation violation.

Five other adults in the house were arrested on misdemeanor charges and outstanding warrants, Muffley said.

Gray and Cook face as much as seven years in prison and a $10,000 fine if they're convicted of commercial burglary.
