D'Iberville liquor store video shows alleged shoplifters

D'IBERVILLE -- The owner of a D'Iberville liquor store took to Facebook to ask for help identifying a man and woman caught on the store's video surveillance allegedly stealing liquor from the store.

The video from Dang's Liquor & Wine on D'Iberville Boulevard shows the woman, dressed in jeans and a pink shirt, stuffing what appears to be a bottle of liquor in her purse, then dancing around.

The man, dressed in blue jeans with a blue jacket and blue ball cap on, appears to stuffing a couple of bottles of liquor in his pants. Also on the site are images of a silver SUV that may belong to the suspects.

The incident occurred Thursday, but the liquor store did not report the incident to D'Iberville police. Instead, they posted the video and pictures on their Facebook account on Saturday asking people to share the information.

Capt. Terry Hines said they got in touch with store's owner after they saw the video and launched a shoplifting investigation.

"Our guy thinks he knows who they are," Hines said.

Arrests in the case could occur as early as today.

The Sun Herald was unable to reach the store's owner, but the store has since posted a message thanking people for liking and sharing the posts.

"The D'Iberville Police Department will be taking care of this matter," the last message reads.
