Hancock County sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery Sunday night at the Kiln Tobacco store on Mississippi 603, Chief Deputy Don Bass said Monday.

The robbery occurred around 8 p.m. when a man walked inside the store armed with a firearm and demanding money.

The suspect ordered the store clerk to lay on the floor during the robbery, Bass said, and left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one other than the clerk was inside at the time of the heist.

The suspect was last seen leaving the store's parking lot in a white passenger car, possibly a Toyota, that appeared to have damage.

A video surveillance camera picked up images of the armed robbery, Bass said, and deputies are getting a copy of that and hope to share the video and any images they are able to pull from that to help get leads in the case.

To report information, call the Hancock County Sheriff's Office at 255-9191 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898 or go to mscoastcrimestoppers.com to leave a tip. Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and a conviction.
