GULFPORT - Samuel Goodwin, 21, of Wiggins, has been sentenced to six years and two months in a federal prison for his role in the robbery of a Hancock Bank in Gulfport on Feb. 2.
He was sentenced on a guilty plea before U.S. District Court Judge Walter J. Gex III. Goodwin was one of two defendants in the case involving a holdup at the bank branch at 1402 Pass Road.
"One of these days, people are going to learn that this is not the wild west any more," U.S. Attorney John Dowdy said this afternoon in announcing the sentence. "If you rob a bank, you will be caught and you will go to prison."
