Man found in Bluff Creek identified (Update 9 a.m.)

Wade Alan Sword, 50, has been identified as the man who died in an apparent drowning Sunday at Bluff Creek just south of Barge Landing, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said.

Sword's girlfriend of 12 years, Byrd said, reported him missing around 7 p.m. Sunday. Search and rescue teams recovered Sword's body around 7:35 a.m. this morning.

Alcohol and prescription drug use, Byrd said, are believed to be contributing factors in the death.
