Gulfport man facing murder charge after killing on Ohio Street

A Gulfport man was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of second-degree murder.

The Gulfport Police Department said it arrested 56-year-old Carliss Demetric Rupert after a shooting on Ohio Avenue earlier in the day.

While on the way to the scene of the shooting, officers said they were notified that a gunshot victim had been dropped off at a local hospital, where that victim later died.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Harrison County Coroner’s Office.

Rupert was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
