One of three people wounded in Gulfport shooting arrested, police say

One of three people wounded in a June 17 shooting on Engram Drive in Gulfport has been arrested, the Gulfport Police Department announced Thursday.

Police arrested 43-year-old Dawonne Donnelle Jones of Gulfport, and charged him with one count of aggravated assault and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

According to police, officers with the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 4500 block of Engram Drive around 3:30 p.m. June 17 in reference to a shooting. While officers were en route, they were notified that Jones and two other individuals suffering from gunshot wounds had already been taken to a local hospital for treatment. All three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, detectives determined the shooting stemmed from a physical altercation that escalated into gunfire. Detectives also served search warrants at multiple locations, resulting in the recovery of marijuana.

Jones was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is currently being held on a $600,000 bond.
