MS Coast woman indicted for embezzling thousands from school group, records show

An August trial date has been tentatively set for the former treasurer of the Moss Point School District Alumni Association, who was indicted on a felony charge of embezzlement.

Cathrinna Tipru Walley, of Pascagoula, waived her arraignment Monday and pleaded not guilty to embezzling over $60,000 from the association. She is out of jail on $25,000 bond.

According to the charging documents, Walley is accused of stealing the money between May 2022 and September 2024.

Moss Point police investigated the case after receiving a report about the alleged theft in December 2024.

The felony offense carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison or a fine of up to a $25,000 fine, or both, plus restitution.

A Jackson County grand jury indicted Walley in April.
