‘Threatening’ suspect killed by police at Ocean Springs hotel. MBI investigating

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the killing of a suspect by police near an Ocean Springs hotel early Friday morning.

According to a news release from the MBI, officers with the Ocean Springs police department were responding to a call about a disturbance near the Quality Inn on Bienville Boulevard.

The MBI says that, upon arrival, officers found the subject in possession of a weapon. When asked to put the weapon down, the subject attempted to come at the officers in a threatening way. The officers then fired, hitting the subject. The subject was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. No law enforcement officers received any serious physical injury.

MBI is gathering evidence in the case. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
