Ex-blackjack dealer charged with cheating scheme at Biloxi casino, records say
A former Mississippi Coast blackjack dealer indicted in Harrison County is charged with one count of cheating at gambling, according to records filed in the case.
Huynh Chi Kang Nguyen, 27, of Biloxi, waived his arraignment in May and pleaded not guilty to the offense.
Nguyen is accused of committing the crime on or around July 16, 2025. He was arrested the same day of the alleged offense.
According to the records, Nguyen was working as a dealer at Boomtown Casino Biloxi when he allegedly exposed the cards to patrons before they placed bets. In addition, he’s accused of failing to collect losing bets from patrons.
Nguyen is currently being screened for pre-trial diversion. If he is eligible for the program and successfully completes the terms of his sentence, he would not have a felony conviction on his record. Otherwise, his case would go trial, which is tentatively set in July.
The gambling offense carries a maximum sentence of up to two years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, or both.
Nguyen is currently out of jail on a $25,000 bond.
The Mississippi Gaming Commission investigated the case. Harrison County Assistant District Attorney Meaghan Smith is prosecuting the case.
