Ocean Springs teens arrested, accused of using Snapchat to set up armed robberies
Two Ocean Springs teens were arrested and charged with armed robbery after two incidents where they used Snapchat to lure victims, police said.
Ocean Springs police said Jasmyne Hodges, 18, and a 16-year-old were involved in incidents where a victim picked up one of the girls after making plans on Snapchat. The most recent incident happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
The victim said he befriended a girl online and picked her up at an address on Morris Noble Road. After that, he said, they parked near the baseball fields at Morris Noble Park. The girl said she was feeling sick and got out of the car; two people with guns then pulled the victim out of his vehicle and robbed him of his phone and money.
Police said a similar incident happened a few weeks earlier at the same location, but the victim was uncooperative. That victim did, however, provide the same Snapchat information and a photo of the girl, who was identified as Hodges.
The 16-year-old is being charged as an adult. Hodges and the juvenile each have bonds set at $250,000. Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
