Gulfport teen arrested, charged in shooting that left victim in critical condition

The Gulfport Police Department has made an arrest after a Thursday night shooting left a victim in stable, but critical condition.

John Edward Knight Jr., a 17-year-old from Gulfport has been arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault, according to Gulfport police.

Gulfport police responded Thursday at about 9:15 p.m. to the 3300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in reference to a shooting. Lt. Jason Ducre says that, upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable but critical condition.

Knight was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
