Arrest made in case of Gulfport teen found dead in car at Coast apartment complex
Ulrick Lamont Ellis, a Gulfport 18-year-old, has been arrested and charged with homicide in the death of Rogeick Cohea, 18, who was found dead inside a car at the Stonegate Apartments on 21st Street.
The Gulfport Police Department said detectives began investigating the teenager’s death Feb. 13 after officers responded to a welfare check at the Stonegate Apartments on 21st Street.
During the course of the investigation, Ellis was identified as the suspect. Detectives determined that Ellis killed Cohea during a robbery that went wrong.
On Sunday, Ellis was located with the assistance of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Capitol Police. Ellis barricaded himself and was eventually forced out after officers deployed gas.
