Charges have been upgraded for two suspects arrested in connection with a shooting a week ago in Jackson County, and additional charges or arrests could be coming, said Sheriff John Ledbetter.

The shooting happened Feb. 26 near North 19th Street and Pickering Forrest Drive in Gulf Park Estates.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded at 9:30 p.m. and found Nathan Lee, 47, with two gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and is listed in stable condition.

The shooting allegedly happened during a fight between Lee, Christopher Paul Landry, 46, and Glen Guy Barton, 32.

Barton was arrested without incident and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Landry was on the run until a tip to Crime Stoppers on Saturday led deputies to his location. Landry was arrested on Derry Lane in Ocean Springs following the tip. He also was charged with aggravated assault with a deadline weapon.

On Thursday, a week after the shooting, Ledbetter reported the charges for both suspects were upgraded to attempted murder. Barton also was charged with one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

The suspects had an initial appearance Wednesday before Jackson County Court Judge Mark Watts. Barton‘s bond was revoked on a previous felony charge. Both suspects are being held at the Jackson County jail.

Anyone with additional information asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 228-769-3063 or Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
