One man arrested, second sought in Mississippi Coast shooting, sheriff says

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies have one man in custody and are searching for a second man in connection with a shooting Thursday, Sheriff John Ledbetter said.

The shooting occurred Thursday night around 9:30 p.m. in the area of North 19th Street and Pickering Forrest Drive in Gulf Park Estates.

When deputies got to the scene, they found Nathan Lee, 47, suffering from a gunshot wound, the sheriff said.

After further investigation, sheriff’s investigators determined that Lee had been shot twice following a fight between him and a second person. Lee was taken from the scene to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Deputies identified the two suspects in the shooting as Christopher Paul Landry, 46, and Glen Guy Barton, 32. Barton was taken into custody after the shooting on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Sheriff’s investigators are currently searching for Landry, who will face the same felony charge once he is captured.

A motive for the shooting has not been released as the investigation continues.
