Man accused in MS Coast shooting arrested on Interstate 10, authorities say

A man accused of shooting one person in St. Martin was arrested Wednesday as he drove away on Interstate 10, authorities said.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to Alex Court on Wednesday and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the arm, according to a news release.

Investigators said the victim argued with the suspect, who is accused of driving to the victim’s house and shooting him as he opened his front door.

Matthew David Jackson, 45, of Ocean Springs, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault. The news release said he was arrested after the shooting “as he attempted to flee Jackson County.”

Jackson is jailed without bond pending an initial court appearance, according to the news release.
