Man accused of armed carjacking in Jackson arrested on MS Coast, police say
An armed carjacking suspect from Jackson was arrested Sunday after a brief chase in Pascagoula, authorities said.
Officers received information at about 5 p.m. Sunday that the suspect, 43-year-old Phares Antonio Pickens, might be in Pascagoula, according to a news release.
A K-9 stopped Pickens after he ran from officers at an Exxon gas station on Chicot Street, police said. Pickens was treated for injuries at Singing River Hospital.
He was later jailed without bond in Jackson County on charges of receiving stolen property, armed carjacking and aggravated assault.
