A teenager accused of shooting two people last month in Bay St. Louis was arrested Tuesday evening, police said.
Officers arrested 18-year-old John Galloway Jr. at about 8 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Coyle Street in the Bayside community. Authorities said Galloway is facing charges of aggravated assault and burglary and is jailed on a $325,000 bond pending an initial court appearance.
Police began searching for a suspect after they found two people had been shot Nov. 29 in the 500 block of Washington Street at the Martin Luther King Jr. City Park. Authorities said both victims suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds.
Police said Galloway knew both shooting victims.
Police Chief Alvin Kingston on Wednesday called Galloway’s arrest a “coordinated effort” between the Bay St. Louis Police Department, Waveland Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to all agencies involved for their assistance and collaboration throughout this investigation,” he said, “and we are grateful for the continued partnership among law enforcement agencies in Hancock County and beyond.”
