Nearly 42 pounds of cocaine seized on Interstate 10 in South MS, sheriff says

A man from Texas was arrested Wednesday after authorities stopped his semi-truck on Interstate 10 and found nearly 42 pounds of cocaine, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies stopped the Freightliner for suspected traffic violations on eastbound Interstate 10 in Gulfport. They found two guns in the cab and cocaine concealed inside the truck, according to a news release.

The sheriff’s office said the cocaine had a street value of more than $1 million.

The truck driver, 38-year-old Jesus Roberto Carrizales of Texas is jailed on a $1 million bond. Carrizales faces a charge of aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance.
