A George County jury convicted a Lucedale man on 14 sex crime charges, resulting in Judge Keith Miller sentencing the man to a 90-year day-for-day prison sentence, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Lloyd Edward Spicer Jr., 42, must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life following his conviction on eight counts of sexual battery by a person in a position of trust and six counts of touching a child for lustful purposes.
According to Assistant District Attorney Carolyn Lewis, Spicer sexually assaulted his two daughters and another relative from the time they were young girls.
Lewis prosecuted the case along with assistant district attorneys Bobby Knochel and Kelsey Hollingsworth.
According to the victims, Spicer’s relatives knew he was committing the crimes but did not report it to authorities to investigate.
“Little girls are supposed to run to their fathers when they are afraid of the monster,” District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath said. “But for these victims, the monster was their father. This was the ultimate betrayal of trust, safety and innocence.”
McIlrath said Spicer isolated and silenced his children from reporting the crimes.
“And others helped hide the truth,” McIlrath said. “ Yet these young women found their voices. They showed remarkable courage, grace, and strength in coming forward. Today, they were heard. Today, they received justice.”
