Two suspects were arrested on Monday after the George County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report that nude photos had been taken of a child.
A “concerned citizen” anonymously reported the case to authorities, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Brody Parker, 22, of Lucedale was arrested on suspicion of secretly taking photographs for lewd purposes. Shannon Havens, 32, of Perkinson, was also arrested and faces a charge of accessory after the fact.
Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said in a statement that the arrests “highlight our ongoing commitment to protecting children and holding accountable those who exploit or endanger minors.”
“We commend the public for their vigilance in reporting this matter and encourage the community to continue cooperating with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our children,” he said.
Parker and Havens are in the George County jail pending an initial court appearance.
