Fleeing suspect hits several vehicles, crashes onto Coast beach, authorities say

A car crashed onto the beach in Biloxi during a police chase Friday morning, authorities said.

The chase began when officers responded to a report of possible fraud at O’Reilly Auto Parts on Pass Road. The business reported that a person tried to use a company credit card improperly, Biloxi Police Lt. Candace Young said.

The person drove away from officers, hit several cars and eventually crashed onto the beach near Eisenhower Drive and Highway 90, Young said. Police said the person ran off toward the water and was stopped by a police dog.

The suspect, who police did not name, was arrested before 11 a.m. and treated for minor injuries. Police said drivers in cars the suspect hit were not seriously hurt.
