Man struck with machete, tied up with fiancee during South MS home invasion, sheriff says

Two assailants, armed with a machete, tied up a Gulfport man and his fiancee during a robbery Monday morning, according to Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley.

The male victim said he was hit in the head and arm with the machete during the home invasion at 6 a.m. in the 12000 block of Cypress Bayou Drive in Gulfport. He said that he was struck while in the driveway, and forced back into the residence where he and his fiancee were tied up using zip ties.

The victim said the suspects took an unknown amount of cash and jewelry. When the suspects left, they took the victim’s black 2018 Dodge Charger.

The victim and his fiancee were able to free themselves and drove to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and is listed in stable condition.
