19 dogs rescued after South MS man’s arrest on charge related to dog fighting, police say
Authorities in Long Beach said this week they are rescuing 19 dogs, some with scars and wounds, and have arrested a man who now faces a charge related to dog fighting.
Police said Long Beach animal control found many dogs barking at a home in the 600 block of West Old Pass Road. On a warrant, authorities searched the property and found “several items related to dog fighting,” a news release said.
Noah Bridges, 36, was arrested Monday and faces a charge of possession of dog fighting paraphernalia.
The Long Beach Police Department said it was working with the South Mississippi Humane Society to rescue the dogs. Police said several of the dogs were injured with scars and open wounds.
Possessing paraphernalia for dog fighting is a felony that carries penalties of up to $5,000 and or up to five years in prison.
Jail records show Bridges was released from the Harrison County jail Tuesday morning on a $15,000 bond and is awaiting an initial court appearance.
