Coroner identifies victim in ‘targeted’ shooting at Mississippi Coast apartment building
A suspect is in custody after a targeted shooting on Thursday left one person dead at an apartment complex in Biloxi, authorities said.
Biloxi police were called at 12:36 p.m. to the Lighthouse Apartments in the 200 block of Porter Avenue, said Sgt. Candace Young, a public information officer for the police department.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victim as Ryan Graham, 43, of Biloxi.
Dustin Joseph Ross, 28, is facing one count of first-degree murder in connection to the shooting, Biloxi police said in a news release Thursday evening. He is being held in the Harrison County jail without bond.
Graham was shot in the head and brought to Memorial Hospital in Biloxi before he died, according to Switzer and the news release.
Authorities did not say what led to the shooting, but the news release said Graham was shot during an “altercation.”
Young said Graham and the suspect knew each other, and Switzer said they both lived in the apartment complex.
Police took Ross into custody at the complex three minutes after police were called there, Young said. Authorities do not think anyone else was at the residence when the shooting occurred, she added.
