Authorities arrest two suspects after shooting outside MS Coast strip mall, police say

Police arrested two suspects after a shooting Monday night outside a Gulfport strip mall left left one person in critical condition, authorities said.

Gulfport Police were called at 5:51 p.m. to a shooting in the 11320 block of Highway 49, a news release said.

Authorities found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the strip mall’s parking lot, Lt. Jason DuCré said. Police said the victim was airlifted to out-of-state hospital.

DuCré said Thursday that police had arrested Ketren Machi Grant, 20, who was wanted on one count of aggravated assault in connection to the shooting. Police said Grant allegedly argued with the victim outside the strip mall then shot him “multiple times.”

Authorities said Grant left the strip mall with Najai Dekela Nutall, 21, who was wanted on one count of accessory after the fact. Police said Nuttall had also been arrested on Thursday.

Police previously said they considered Grant “armed and dangerous.” The nature of the alleged argument is unclear.
