‘Armed and dangerous’ suspect arrested days after MS Coast shooting, authorities say
Police arrested a man they say arrived at a home in Gulfport on Sunday morning and fired into it after an argument.
Avante Jaquan Kirk, 23, turned himself in Thursday morning, police said. He is facing one count of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into a dwelling.
Police had been searching for Kirk since Sunday, when they said they were called at 11:06 a.m. to the 2500 block of Halsel Street.
Witnesses told police that Kirk arrived at the home and began arguing with someone there, according to a news release from Gulfport Police. Police said he fired a gun and hit the residence, then fled in a white 2020 Ford Escape.
Police had earlier asked residents to consider Kirk “armed and dangerous.”
Kirk is being held at the Harrison County jail on a $1 million bond, according to police.
