Coroner identifies man who died over the weekend after shooting at MS Coast gas station
Police arrested a man and charged him with first-degree murder after one person died and another was injured in a shooting early Saturday in Waveland, police said.
Police were called at 1:33 a.m. to a Circle K gas station on Highway 90, Chief Michael Prendergast said in a news release. They found a man in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to his chest.
Hancock County Coroner Jeff Hair identified the victim as LaDaibrien Acker, 19, of Waveland. Hair said Acker was brought to Ochsner Medical Center, where he died.
A woman was also shot in the arm and had been released from the hospital by Saturday morning, according to the news release.
Police arrested Robert George Sams Jr., 22, of Kiln. Sams is facing charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
Sams was booked just after 8 a.m. into the Hancock County jail, according to a jail docket. The jail docket shows Sams is held without bond pending his initial court appearance.
