MS Coast man sentenced for luring young girls & filming women in public restrooms
A Biloxi man described as the epitome of “stranger danger” to children is headed to prison for life without parole for luring young girls to his car, masturbating in front of them, and violating the privacy of others he filmed in public restrooms, according to Jackson County District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath said.
Judge Kathy King Jackson sentenced Christopher Carmel Burdine, 36, on Wednesday as a habitual offender following his conviction on three counts of indecent exposure and two counts of filming persons in violation of their privacy.
Burdine had previous convictions for aggravated assault in Harrison County, making him a habitual offender in Mississippi.
Burdine is the type of person parents warn children about, McIlrath said.
“He is a sexual predator, and we are all safer because of the life sentence imposed by Judge Jackson,” McIlrath said. “Again, I want to thank the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their outstanding investigation.”
Jackson County sheriff’s deputies started an investigation on Jan. 4, 2023, after responding to a St. Martin home about a man, since identified as Burdine, “driving around and masturbating in front of high school girls.” McIlrath said.
On a couple of occasions, Burdine pulled up to girls and lured them to his car to ask for directions to the high school. When the girls approached Burdine’s car, they saw him masturbating.
Sheriff’s deputies subsequently arrested Burdine and searched his phone. On the phone, investigators found multiple videos of women using public restrooms. Two of the videos featured women using bathrooms at a gas station on Tucker Road.
McIlrath and Assistant District Attorney Bill Barrett prosecuted the case.
“Christopher Burdine is a sexual predator who rode around our community masturbating and preying on young girls as they walked in their neighborhoods after school, some of whom had just gotten off the school bus,” McIlrath said.
