An Escatawapa man is jailed without bond on misdemeanor and felony charges for having sex with a dog, Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said.

Timothy Sanders, 31, was arrested Wednesday after he was caught holding down a pregnant pit bull dog and having sexual intercourse with her, the sheriff said.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Sanders on a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty and a felony charge of having unnatural sex, the release said. The felony charge has a maximum sentence of up 10 years in prison with fine of up to $5,000 and orders to register as a sex offender.

County Court Judge Mark Watts denied bond for Sanders during his initial court appearance.

He remains jailed in Jackson County.
