MS Coast man is arrested after fleeing a car crash that killed his passenger, police say

Gulfport Police arrested a suspect on Monday who is accused of running a traffic light last weekend and causing a crash that killed a passenger in his car.

Laquenta Dehayta Quinn, 47, faces one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Police responded to the crash about 3:05 p.m. Saturday near Beach Boulevard and Courthouse Road. Police say Quinn collided with another car after he did not stop at the traffic signal. He ran from the car and did not help the victim after the crash, police said in a news release.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victim as Tracy Keys, 47, of Gulfport. Keys was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene from blunt force trauma, Switzer said.

Another person involved in the crash had minor injuries and has since been released from the hospital, Sgt. Jason Ducre said.

Quinn is held at the Harrison County jail on a $200,000 bond.
