2 arrested after fight, gunfire at South Mississippi bar injures woman who wasn’t involved
One person was injured and two customers were arrested Sunday night after an apparently drunken fight at a Hancock County bar ended in gunfire, authorities said.
Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 10:14 p.m. to Harold and Lillian’s bar in Clermont Harbor, Cmdr. Kris Robbins said in a news release.
Deputies found a woman suffering a gunshot wound, Robbins said. Authorities later transported the woman to a hospital in Louisiana. She was in stable condition on Monday, Robbins said.
The shooting occurred after a man and woman who were previously in a relationship began arguing at the bar, Robbins said. The suspects, Deon Morgan, 45, of Roxie, Mississippi and Katrina Nordin, 46, of Bay St. Louis, are each held in the Hancock County jail on a disorderly conduct charge.
The injured woman was not involved in the fight, Robbins said.
The argument spiraled into the parking lot after Nordin allegedly threatened to run over Morgan’s motorcycle, Robbins said. He said employees tried to separate the fight. One shot was fired, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the shooting, which could be accidental, Robbins said. Authorities may file more charges later in the investigation.
