D’Iberville HS gets all-clear after ‘complex threat,’ second at MS Coast school in a week

For the second time in a week, a school district is dealing with an end-of-year bomb threat.

Police and other law enforcement were called to D’Iberville High School on Monday afternoon.

“Someone called in to the school and said there was a bomb,” said Marty Griffin, D’Iberville deputy police chief.

The all-clear came around 2 p.m. and the lockdown was removed. Police now are moving to the investigative phase to identify the caller, said D’Iberville Police Chief Shannon Nobles.

“It was a very complex threat,” Nobles said, “which some of the details included detonation devices.

“The school, following the crisis plan, went to immediate lockdown,” he said.

Several law enforcement agencies responded and no active threats have been identified, he said.

Teams are sweeping the entire campus..

“Asking for parents’ patience and trust as we are working diligently to confirm that this a baseless unsubstantiated threat to the campus,” Nobles said.

On Friday, law enforcement from across the area responded to a 911 call that a person had a gun and explosives and was inside West Harrison High School. The high school and nearby middle school were locked down and three hours later students and teachers were allowed to go home when no guns of bombs were found.

The Sun Herald will update this article as more details are available.
