Police release description and identify suspect in fatal hit and run in Bay St. Louis

Bay St. Louis Police Chief Toby Schwartz said Monday afternoon his department has several leads that could help identify the person involved in a deadly hit and run Saturday.

Within 30 minutes of releasing photos, the post already had been shared 500 times just on the police department website. Schwartz later posted, “The suspect has been identified. Additional information will be released soon.”

The fatality happened around 10:35 p.m. Saturday, when Brandy Thames, 41, of Bay St. Louis was struck while walking at the intersection of U.S. 90 and Dunbar Avenue. She was transported to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Witnesses identified a possible suspect vehicle as a dark-colored pickup truck that fled east on U.S. 90.

Bay St. Louis Police said in a press release Monday the vehicle is believed to be a 2003-06 Chevrolet Silverado, extended cab with a bed toolbox.

The driver is described as a 25-to-35 year old white male, with a large build and a blonde curly mullet hair style, police said.
