MS Coast woman arrested on child abuse charges after newborn baby’s death

A Gulfport woman is accused of causing her baby’s death by taking drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamines during her pregnancy, Gulfport Police said in a release.

Savannah Galle Reynolds, 23, was 37 weeks pregnant when she went into labor and had the baby, who died days later. In subsequent lab tests, authorities said the child tested positive for methamphetamine, fentanyl and marijuana.

The investigation began last week after officials with Child Protective Services called police to investigate the suspected child abuse.

During the investigation, police determined Reynolds had taken the drugs throughout her pregnancy, the release said.

Reynolds is being held at the Harrison County jail on a $250,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Nick Patano.

The case remains under investigation. To report information, call Gulfport Police at 228-868-5959.
