US Marshals arrest 2 murder suspects hiding in South MS homes and recover several guns
The US Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force found two fugitives in Moss Point and arrested them for murder.
Both men were located and arrested Friday between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m..
Devanta Hall, 22, was taken into custody near the 4900 Block of Larimore Street in East Moss Point.
An unnamed juvenile, 17, was taken into custody five miles away near the 3400 Block of Dubose Avenue, near downtown Moss Point.
Both were wanted by the Mobile Police Department for two separate and unrelated murders, officials said. Hall has been wanted for murder since June 18 and the juvenile since June 20.
Hall also was wanted for two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle.
According to a press release, U.S. Marshals believed the juvenile was hiding at a residence on Dubose Avenue and and forced entry when occupants of the home refused to answer the door. Several people were found inside along with multiple guns, one of which was listed as stolen through Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Lavon Finley, 24, wanted for failure to appear out of Jackson County, was among those in the home. He and the juvenile were taken to the Moss Point Police Department for processing.
Charges are expected to be filed in connection to the other firearms found in the home.
Hall was located inside a home at Larimore Street. Marshals said after a short delay, Hall was taken into custody without incident.
The arrests came as part of a joint investigation between the U.S. Marshals and the Mobile Police Department, which provided crucial information that helped narrow down the locations of both murder suspects in Moss Point.
The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Gulfport, Mobile and Hattiesburg offices, along with the Jackson County Sheriff’s
office, Mobile Police Department and Moss Point Police Department assisted in the arrests.
