Long Beach student arrested for bringing gun to school event, police say

A Long Beach School District student was arrested after allegedly bringing a gun to an after-school activity on Thursday, police said

The school district informed police about the weapon at the event after students who saw the gun reported it to administration.

Police did not say if the event was on a school campus.

The student, who is a juvenile, was arrested on a charge of possession of a weapon by a student and taken to the Harrison County Youth Detention Center.

It’s not clear which Long Beach school the child attended or what grade the student is in.

Police determined the weapon was a pellet gun.
