Bay St. Louis man sentenced on methamphetamine charge, authorities say

A Mississippi Coast man will spend more than 11 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in April.

Reynard Joseph Elzy, 40, of Bay St. Louis was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Gulfport, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Mississippi. He will spend 136 months in prison.

The release said a “confidential source” bought methamphetamine from Elzy in Bay St. Louis but does not say when the offense occurred. Authorities conducted a search warrant on his residence and found additional narcotics and a firearm, the release said.

The release also said Elzy was on parole at the time of the offense.

A grand jury indicted Elzy in January.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and Hancock County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case.
