Man shot twice in back during drive-by shooting in Bayside Park, Hancock officials say

One person was shot Thursday in the Bayside Park community near Waveland and Bay St. Louis, Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said.

Deputies responded at 11:30 a.m. to Hancock Drive, the Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook. The Bayside Fire Department said the incident was a drive by shooting in which a male victim had been shot twice in the back and was airlifted to a trauma center.

Adam said the person’s injuries were not life threatening but could not provide further information.

The Sheriff’s Office has not identified a suspect and said in the Facebook post that they are looking for a black four-door sedan with tinted windows but did not know the make and model. The car was last seen driving north on Hancock Drive, the post said.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for public assistance in the investigation and asked anyone with information to call Hancock County Central Dispatch on their non-emergency line at 228-255-9191 or the Hancock County Criminal Investigations Division at 228-466-6910.
