Police searching for suspect after man found shot in Picayune home, authorities say

Picayune Police are searching for a suspect after officers responded to a report on Saturday of a man found shot and killed in his home, authorities said.

Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage identified the man as 53-year-old Michael McDonald. Turnage did not immediately provide further information about the victim’s death.

Picayune Police Chief Joe Quave said police responded at 11:39 p.m. Saturday to the 2300 block of Morris Street and found a man inside who had been shot. Police are investigating the incident as a homicide, Quave said.

Quave said there was no party or gathering at the residence and the man was found by a roommate who had returned home. Quave declined to release further details and said police are currently interviewing neighbors and investigating the incident.
