Bay St. Louis domestic fight leaves one dead, one hospitalized, police say

A man is dead and a woman is hospitalized after a Thursday night shooting in Bay St. Louis, police said.

Police responded at 10:08 p.m. to a home in the 700 block of Louis Piernas Drive and found Stephen Mosley of Chalmette and Lakeila Billizon of Bay St. Louis each suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

After an investigation, police said Mosley and Billizon were dating and lived together.

Their gunshot wounds resulted from a physical altercation that escalated into a fight over a firearm that discharged once and struck both individuals, according to a news release.

Mosley was taken to Ochsner Medical Center, where he died. Billizon was transported to a hospital in Louisiana, where police said she is in serious but stable condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
