An investigation is under way after a George County sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a person Wednesday morning.

According to a press release from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, deputies were attempting to serve a warrant around 5 a.m. near a home on Jordan Road after a person was making “terroristic threats.”

Authorities say the person was fatally shot after displaying a weapon toward the deputies.

The deputies were uninjured.

MBI says it will share its findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
