A Texas man who is a suspect in a Georgia double shooting and murder case was arrested by Biloxi police after he was found sleeping in his car at a gas station.
Chamblee Police Department in Georgia contacted the Biloxi Police Department with a tip that the man might be in South Mississippi at the Love’s gas station off exit 44 of Interstate 10.
Pedro Armentero Mesa, 55, of Houston, was arrested after police found him sleeping in his car.
He was taken into custody without incident at the gas station on Cedar Lake Road.
“He was confirmed as the fugitive they were looking for,” said Biloxi Police spokesman Capt. Thomas Goldsworthy.
Chamblee Police issued a press release Wednesday saying a suspect in a double shooting was taken into custody in Biloxi.
The report said Champlee Police responded to a 911 call Tuesday evening and found two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were transported to area hospitals in critical condition and one of the victims died, police reported.
Chamblee police would not confirm to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Mesa is the suspect in the case, citing the ongoing investigation.
The suspect was charged with being a fugitive from justice in Dekalb County, Georgia, which is just east of Atlanta. The original charge in Georgia was murder, with full extradition.
Mesa is being held at the Harrison County jail without bond.
