MS Coast bicyclist hit, killed in Jackson County, authorities say
A Vancleave man was riding his bicycle on Tucker Road when a vehicle hit and killed him Monday night, Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. said.
Dickey Ray Payne, 44, died at the scene shortly after the coroner’s office responded to the scene just before 9 p.m. Monday, Lynd said. He died of blunt force injuries, he said.
Payne was riding in the center of the two-lane road when the vehicle hit him, Lynd said. The coroner said he was wearing dark clothes at the time of the incident.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation.
