Gulfport man held on murder, aggravated assault charges in shooting, police say
A Gulfport man has been arrested on first-degree murder and aggravated assault charges in connection with a shooting at an apartment complex that left one sibling dead and another critically injured, police said in a new release.
Makhari Seven Gasaway, 20, was arrested Thursday and is being held at the Harrison County jail, the release said.
Gasaway is accused of fatally shooting Brushawn Shawmayne McClam, a 27-year-old transgender woman, and shooting and injuring McClam’s sibling in an home at Emerald Pines Apartments in the 3300 block of 39th Avenue.
Police said the shooting occurred after Gasaway and McClam got into an argument, and Gasaway pulled out a gun and started shooting.
McClam died at the scene, and her sister was taken to the hospital for treatment.
