2 teens charged in fatal shooting of 18-year-old in Gulfport, police say

Two teens were arrested and charged Friday evening in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old in Gulfport, authorities said.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victim as Tyrese Yarbor of Gulfport. Yarbor was shot “multiple” times Friday morning, about 10:42 a.m., and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5000 block of Old Pass Road, Switzer said.

Sgt. Jason DuCré of the Gulfport Police Department confirmed the death to the Sun Herald.

Dwayne Stewart Jr., 16, was arrested on one count of first-degree murder, according to a news release from the Gulfport Police Department. Chrishide Devonte Jordan, 16, was arrested on one count of accessory after the fact.

Stewart and Jordan got in a verbal altercation with Yarbor before the shooting and subsequently fled the scene, according to the news release.

Police arrested the two a short time later. Both are being held without bond.
