Wiggins murder victim was a proud mom of three kids under 2. Here’s how you can help.
The family of a murder victim is asking the community for assistance with funeral preparations.
Kayla Cooper, 22, was shot and killed on April 17. Zavago Wilson turned himself in to police the same morning, Easter Sunday. He was wanted on a murder charge.
On April 18, a GoFundMe was started by Tekiyah Cooper, a family member.
“These times have not been friendly to my family and friends in terms of finances. We would love nothing more than to give Kayla a sensible funeral service and some monetary assistance to help her family with her toddlers that she left behind,” Tekiyah said in the post.
Kayla Cooper was a proud mom and three children under 2 years old, including a set of twins, the GoFundMe page says.
“Her light and smile will truly be missed.”
As a result of the nature of the death, the author of the post says the family has not had time to prepare for funeral arraignments. Stone County Coroner Wayne Flurry told the Sun Herald that Kayla Cooper likely died from a single gunshot wound.
The fundraiser has a target of $11,000.
