Gautier woman arrested for setting fire to a relative’s home, police say
A Gautier woman arrested on a felony charge of arson is accused of setting fire to a relative’s home Tuesday night, Gautier Police Chief Danny Selover said in a press release.
Britney Langdon, 21, remained jailed in Jackson County on Wednesday pending a bond hearing.
Gautier police and firefighters responded to the fire at a vacant home in the 17000 block of Dolphin Drive around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the release said.
When first responders got there, the home was fully engulfed in flames with a vehicle parked in front of the home, Fire Chief Josh Latch said.
After firefighters put out the fire, an investigation followed that determined the fire had been intentionally set, the release said.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office is responding to the scene Wednesday to further investigate the origin of the fire.
Police arrested Langdon after they found her walking along Dolphin Drive not far from the home.
Based on the investigation and additional information authorities learned at the scene, Selover said police had enough probable cause to identify Langdon as a suspect.
