3rd arrest made in Long Beach murder case. Two charged with assisting after shooting.

The Long Beach Police Department has arrested Anthony Vanish, 38, of Gulfport, and Kentrell McNair, 25, of Magee on one charge each of accessory after the fact to murder in a shooting Sunday afternoon that left one person dead at a Long Beach duplex.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Emmitt Johnson of Meridian. After the shooting, Johnson was taken to Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said an autopsy determined that Johnson died of a single gunshot wound.

Vanish and McNair were developed as suspects during the investigation, Police Chief Billy Seal said.

Seal said he is unable to release further details because of the ongoing investigation. Vanish was arrested Monday and McNair was arrested Tuesday. According to the Harrison County jail docket, both are being held on bonds of $100,000 each.

Seal said police arrested Vanish at his home address at William Bell Apartments in West Gulfport. A news release did not say where McNair was arrested.

Gulfport resident Jonathan McNair, 24, was arrested Sunday afternoon in the case on a murder charge.
