Biloxi man arrested in 1986 cold case involving man’s remains found in a Louisiana well
A Biloxi man was arrested by U.S. Marshals Thursday morning in connection to a Louisiana cold case, according to a press release.
Delwin Avard Sibley, 74, was arrested at his home on the Coast and charged with second degree murder in the killing of Lester Rome of Grand Isle, Louisiana, according to a release from the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Rome’s remains were found inside of a well in 1986, but authorities believe he was killed two years before that. The case was dubbed as the “Man in the Well” death, according to the release.
The remains were not identified until earlier this month.
Sibley was determined to be a suspect by Sabine Parish detective Chris Abrahams, who has been working on the case for the last 10 months.
A warrant for Sibley was obtained on Tuesday through the 11th Judicial District Court. He was arrested Thursday morning.
